Canal ABC - Agricultural Bay symbiosis with Creativity

With the decline of the water-transport of the Grand Canal, the relative position of the canal shifted from marginalization to centralization during urban expansion, and the daily activities and culture of the canal homeland gradually declined. How to reshape the canal through urban design and make it the resilient framework of city? Replying to this issue and concept “symbiosis”, the design focus on the conflicts between canals and cities form city scale, neighborhood scale and human scale.

本设计场地位于苏州市吴中区京杭大运河畔的澹台湖片区。这里作为苏州古城的家园之一，因运河而兴，古时便颇享盛名。但随着京杭大运河漕运功能的衰落，运河的相对位置在城市扩张过程中由边缘化转向中心化，运河家园的水上日常活动和水文化日渐式微。如何通过城市设计重塑运河，使其成为未来苏州城市弹性发展的骨架？针对此问题，本设计从城市、街区与人本尺度剖析运河与城的矛盾，提出“时序共生”的概念。在城市尺度上，基于对运河沿线 5 km 场地的研究，从共生基底环境、共生地块单元、共生开放骨架三层来搭建开发框架，强调“相对不变的触媒”与“变化的四大产业集聚单元”共生；在街区尺度上，选取农业科技与创意艺术两大产业功能组团进行设计，场地中央大运河畔的运河活力中心将场地西部的滨湖文创街区与东部的农科漕运基地以水为媒联结起来，在空间设计上将运河与生态、产业、社会弹性、时序共生，成就未来共生家园——“运河 ABC”。
